The 71-meter, 13-story octagon-shaped brick pagoda was constructed during the Kin Dynasty China in 1189 in honor of the Tang Dynasty's eventual victory over Goruryo Kingdom.
The pagoda stands on the areas where Goguryo's Liaodong Walls (סÔÔàò) existed as the forefront of the ancient Korean dynasty's scores of fortresses which endured numerous military attacks from the Chinese Empire.
