A story of selfless love that is also a poetic journey into the meaning of life itself. Trudi is the only one who knows that her husband is terminally ill with cancer. When his doctor suggests that the couple undertake one last trip together, Trudi persuades her husband to accompany her to visit her children and grandchildren in Berlin. However, the members of their family are far too wrapped up in their own lives to be able to take care of the couple.
After a theatre trip to see a Butoh dance performance, Trudi and Rudi decide to go and stay at a hotel on the Baltic coast. And then, out of the blue, Trudi dies. Rudi is completely at a loss. He has no idea what to do with his life, until he decides to go to Japan to visit their youngest son, Karl.

Only Trudi knows that her husband Rudi is suffering from a terminal illness. She decides not to tell him and convinces him to visit their family in Berlin. Then, suddenly, Trudi dies. Rudi is devastated but vows to make up for her lost life. And so he embarks on his last journey - to Tokyo - in the midst of the cherry blossom festival, a celebration of beauty, impermanence and new beginnings. Synopsis
우리에게 남겨진 시간이 많을 줄 알았다...
루디가 말기 환자라는 사실을 알게 된 부인 트루디. 그녀는 남편과의 마지막 추억을 만들기 위해 아이들이 살고 있는 베를린으로의 여행을 제안한다. 그렇게 시작된 여행. 부부는 오랫동안 떨어져 지낸 아이들에게 낯선 감정을 느끼기도 하지만, 서로가 있기에 여전히 행복하다. 그러나 여행 중, 트루디가 먼저 세상을 떠나게 되고...

남편 루디의 등에 몸을 기대어 행복한 표정을 짓고 있는 아내 트루디.
