North Korean Refugees Arrives in Geoje Island from Heungnam
Korean war refugees arrive at Geoje Island in South Gyeongsang Province. On Geoje Island were concentration camps where POWs and and war refugees were housed. They came from North Korean port city of Heungnam in January, 1951. Large number of North Korean refugees fled the Communists when the allied forces of South Korea and UN evacuated the city due to the massive number of Chinese forces who came to North Korean aid.
