SAKA Chairman Yoon Jae-Hwan Attends 6th TAFISA World Sport for All Games in Jakarta
Yoon Leads 130-Plus Korean Delegation to All Sports & Games

Chairman Yoon Jae-Hwan of Sport & Art Korean Association (SAKA) led 130-member Korean Delegation to the 6th TAFISA World Sport for All Games taken place in Jakarta, Indonesia on Oct. 6-12, 2016.

The massive Korean Delegation comprising a variety of traditional Korean sports and games competed with international participants from other countries in the "Tafisa Games 2016," the recreational sport event.

They included traditional Korean wrestling or "Ssireum," Korean martial art of Taekwondo, traditional Korean archery, "Samulnori" or music and dance of four percussion instruments, crane dance, and Korean shaman dance.

The delegation left South Korea on Oct. 6, 2016 for the Indonesian capital of Jakarta and came back to Seoul on Oct. 13, 2016.

During the event Jakarta turned into the venue of "Sports for All" as well over 10,000 delegations from 93 countries in the world took part in the games. They demonstrated or vied in Traditional Sports and Games (TSG).

The quadrennial games was held under patronage of the IOC and UNESCO.

A couple of weeks before the departure the Korean Delegation held a general meeting hosted by SAKA Chairman Yoon at a Seoul hotel.

"I am more than happy to participate in the 6th TAFISA World Sports for All Games," Chairman Yoon said in the meeting. "It is a festival for those who enjoy traditional games and sports from all over the world"

He said that some Korean players will take part in the arm wrestling.

"Sports for All" is not merely a sports activity," he went on. "The event serves as a bridge for world peace"

"I will do my utmost, as a leader of SAKA, to accomplish the peace and prosperity of the world as well as my own country of South Korea," Chairman Yoon added.

The 6th TAFISA World Sport for All Games in Jakarta

In the tradition of TAFISA World Sport for All Games, the 6th Games was hosted by TAFISA member organization Indonesian Sport for All Federation (FORMI) in Jakarta, Indonesia, from October 6th to 12th, 2016.

The Games was a vibrant and entertaining experience, offering a unique opportunity to discover the variety and values of Sport for All including traditional games and popular sports of cultures from around the world. TAFISA stands for The Association For International Sport For All.

The 6th TAFISA World Sport for All Games was held under the patronage of UNESCO and IOC, acknowledging once again the important role that traditional sports and games play in shaping civilizations and cultures, national identities, and cross-boundaries unity.

Venues and Theme

Jakarta is with its 10 million inhabitants the capital city and getaway to Indonesia, an archipelago country consisting of about 13,000 islands and 200 million people. Indonesia has a unique diversity of tribes, language, culture, customs and religion, and this diversity is mirrored in Jakarta. Due to its geographical condition, it is easily approached by land, air and sea transportations.

These Games are set to reflect the cultural wealth of Indonesia.

The main theme of the Games was "Unity in Diversity" and “Let’s Move, Be Active!”
