“7 or Northing”
“Got7” Seeks Its Heyday with New Album “Encore”
By Antonina Veljanovska
EU Correspondent
“Got7,” The seven-member K-Pop group

"7 or nothing," A very famous sentence for this K-Pop group called “Got7.” Got7 is one of the few multi-ethnic groups, so it is not surprising that they have so many fans around the world, but they are still the kings of Thailand because they have the largest fan base there.

The seven members of hugely popular K-Pop group dispersed on Jan. 19, 2021 when it departed from JYP Entertainment following the expiration of their contract with the agency.

However, they got together to launch their new music “Encore,” which was officially released on Feb. 20, 2021. “Encore” took the top spots in nearly all domestic charts. They are coming back.

They debuted under JYP Entertainment in on Jan. 16, 2014 with the hip-hop-inspired single Girls Girls Girls Got7 – JB, Mark, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, Bam Bam, and Yugyeom.

Mark is a Taiwanese American from Los Angeles. Jackson is from Hong Kong and BamBam is from Thailand. The rest of the members — JB, Youngjae, Junior, and Yugeom — are born and raised in Korea. Got7 has its own official fan club called “I Got7,” which the guys point out because number 7 is considered lucky, they want fans to say they are lucky to have all the members of the group.

A unique point about the group is that Got7’s dance performances display moves derived from martial arts combined with b-boying and since the boys are highly proficient in b-boying and martial art tricking, it makes it all the more interesting to watch them perform.

Their flames on stage were extinguished after they disintegrated as a group and it was a major setback for the music industry especially during this time of pandemic. They split as a group on Jan. 19, 2021.

Although they may no longer be together as a group, they will be a family of seven forever. Got7 was considered one of the most famous bands in South Korea. Maybe a big loss for the K-Pop industry that went out of business too soon, but each of them found their own way.

They were also one of the few groups that, whenever it came on stage, captivated with love for its fans, with their rare harmony, cohesion, faith, respect for each other. not only in South Korea but all over the world have won the hearts of many people with their quality music.

Maybe that's why they bore the title "leading force of the global K-Wave."

“The Got7 members are very close. They agreed on staying together, but they disagreed on the choice of their agency.

Although they no longer exist as a group whether through the fault of the company that did not care for them at all as they deserved or through someone else's fault.

Mark then posted a heartfelt message on Twitter to reassure them that “nothing is coming to an end.”

“The past seven years have been the best years of my life. Nothing is coming to an end, just the beginning, wrote Mark. “The seven of us are going to continue to bring you guys the best version of us till the end”

JB recently said on his SNS live broadcast, "I'm officially saying that Got7 is not disbanded." JB told the worried fans, "I think We'll do (activities) when we are ready," and added, "I'll do Jus2 (Yugyeom, JB's unit) and Got7 too."

As I said they may not be in the same company, but Got7 always finds a way to surprise their aghases, (the name of their fan base) as they did with their last song “Encore” which was intended for aghase, for their feelings, maybe they are no longer together in one company, but they will forever be Got7. The only thing that can be said about them is like this saying – “7 or nothing” …

Who Is Got7?

Got7 is a seven-member South Korean boy band formed by JYP Entertainment in Seoul. They are Jay B, Mark, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, BamBam, and Yugyeom.

Got7 made their debut in January 2014 with the release of their first EP Got It?, which became on Billboard's World Albums Chart. The group gained attention also for their live performances, which often includes elements of martial arts tricking and street dancing.

In late 2014, Got7 signed with Sony Music Entertainment Japan and ventured into the Japanese market to release their debut Japanese-language single "Around the World."

They returned to South Korea a month later to release their first full-length studio album Identify, which topped the nation's charts. In 2015, Got7 released the EPs Just Right and Mad, which yielded their most commercially successful single, "Just Right."

In 2016, they moved into the Japanese market with a full-length Japanese studio album, Moriagatteyo, which entered the Oricon Albums Chart at number three.

Their fifth Korean EP Flight Log: Departure and their second full-length studio album Flight Log: Turbulence were both chart-toppers, and the 2017 EP Flight Log: Arrival was the third and final part of the group's Flight Log series. At the time it was their highest selling album with over 300,000 copies sold.

In the same year they also released their seventh EP, 7 for 7, featuring the chart-topping single "You Are." The album also sold over 300,000 copies. Their eighth EP, Eyes On You was released on March 12, 2018, and has sold over 300,000 copies.

Their eleventh EP, Dye was released on April 20, 2020, and has sold over 450,000 copies. The group departed from JYP Entertainment on Jan. 19, 2021, following the expiration of their contract with the agency.
