UAE Envoy Delivers Opening Speech at the first
S. Korea-Indian Ocean Rim Association Seminar

UAE Ambassador to S. Korea Abdulla Saif Al Nuaimi delivering the opening speech at the first Republic of Korea-Indian Ocean Rim Association Partnership Seminar held in Seoul on Oct. 29, 2020

His Excellency Abdulla Saif Al Nuaimi, UAE ambassador to Seoul, delivered an opening speech at the first Republic of Korea-Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Partnership Seminar hosted by the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Korea National Diplomatic Academy and the Korea International Trade Association, on Oct. 29, 2020, as the UAE holds the rotating presidency of this association during the period 2019-2021.

The ambassador’s speech dealt with the UAE’s efforts in combating terrorism and extremism, the UAE’s pursuit of peace values, and support for international and constructive efforts in this regard. He commended Seoul for hosting the aforementioned conference and its cooperation as a dialogue partner in this association, especially in facing the Covid-19 pandemic.

In his speech, the ambassador highlighted and emphasized the efforts of the UAE as a model and an honorable position among the countries of the world that pursues a comprehensive strategy in combating terrorism and extremism, and achieving security, stability and peaceful coexistence in society.

The ambassador said that “As the current chair, the UAE remains resolute in its desire to ensure that IORA is fully able to tangibly pursue initiatives that work towards a stable, prosperous, and harmonious Indian Ocean Rim,” adding that “Today’s seminar, which focuses on IORA’s priority areas and COVID-19-induced challenges, gives us the opportunity to exchange ideas and further develop our cooperation during these challenging times.”

The first ROK-IORA Partnership Seminar will serve as a platform for policy and academic exchanges between the ROK and IORA. As such, it is expected to be a meaningful opportunity that can enhance mutual understanding and promote friendship and cooperation with these countries.
