Letters from Tokyo
United States Botanic Garden and Stunning Art by Alyse Radenovic: Plants and National Identity
By Lee Jay Walker
Tokyo Correspondent
Alyse Radenovic's work of art

Alyse Radenovic focuses on many angles when it comes to art but in this article the focus is on her stunning art pieces of the United States Botanic Garden. This famous botanic garden in America is located in Washington D.C. and the foundation of this delightful place reads like a part of special American history. This relates to the combined dream of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison who all dreamed about creating such a stunning place to relax and refresh the spirit.

The world of Alyse Radenovic is (http://www.alyseradenovic.com/index.htm) equally inspired by history, culture and the threads which hold certain societies together, Of course, like all individuals people will be familiar with their own respective culture but just like each wave then individuals are complex. Therefore, in the fullness of time other cultures may start to pull at individuals depending on various factors. However, with America being built on the ashes of Native Americans then a new society, history, culture, faith, political system and so forth would emerge. In turn, this new America is now being challenged by the emergence of new faiths, ethnic groups and cultures.

Washington D.C. is at the heart of national government in America and in a sense the stunning botanic garden fits in well because it is a great place to reflect on many important things. Alyse Radenovic highlights the amazing diversity of this garden and the beautiful reality of nature. The stunning color schemes of several art pieces are truly adorable because even on a cold morning in winter these art pieces will warm the heart.

Also, while individuals may come and go in this world, it is clear that this special place will continue to grow and prosper because of its historical significance and connection. Gardens also highlight the majesty of this world because humanity can never be so creative in comparison. Therefore, the changing seasons will witness the power of nature in all its splendor and highlight the complexity of each plant and living organ.

On the United States Botanic Garden website it states that ¡°Plants appeal to the senses – visitors of all ages are captivated by the sights, smells, sounds and textures that surround them in our Conservatory.¡±

¡°The U.S. Botanic Garden is a museum with a difference. Our artifacts are the living treasures of the plant world. The towering leaves, graceful flowers, delicate seeds and exotic fruits of plants at their peak are displayed artfully throughout the historic Conservatory.¡±

Alyse Radenovic (https://twitter.com/AlyseRadenovicA) also captivates people by her art related to this botanic garden because you can see the treasures of this special place. Also, the graceful flowers shine through powerfully within her art work because great detail is provided and the feel is always natural. Alyse Radenovic also highlights flowers at their peak of color and strength. Therefore, this adorable artist is highlighting the great variety of different species within a very pleasing environment.

The botanic garden is blessed with plants from all over the world and this in a sense fits in well with the mosaic of America. After all, it is clear that all Americans, apart from Native Americans, have their roots which connect to different parts of the world. Also, just like various plants flourish quickly others need greater care, understanding and support because of various factors related to nature. Likewise, while people are individuals in America it is also true to say that some ethnic groups have flourished much more than others based on complex factors. This reality means that while different plants can¡¯t share the same pains and feelings of alienation like humans can; the cold reality is that some plants have a greater opportunity to prosper than others and this connects with the reality of modern day America despite the factors being very different.

In the art piece (see above) titled Poinsettias and Dots – Conservatory at the U.S. Botanic Garden, Washington, D.C. by Alyse Radenovic, then she highlights the delightful reality of nature. The stunning red color scheme mingling within various shades of green looks so majestic. Indeed, the sublime art piece provides a stylish dimension to a familiar backdrop for visitors to this botanic garden.

Likewise, in the art piece above you can imagine modern America whereby strength is needed during times of adversity. The background scheme shows a foggy and mysterious view which fuses the appeal of beauty with the world of uncertainty. However, the strength of plant life is highlighted by the tall dark green visual images of nature which remains unbowed. In this image you have certainty and uncertainty among the cloudy backdrop whereby people are represented by frailty – and nature by power and strength.

Art is always open to interpretation and manipulation by each respective viewer. For some, the meanings can be extremely expansive but for others it may represent a known reality. The beauty of Alyse Radenovic and her sublime art is that you can always feel a connection. Also, the delightful color schemes and usage of various angles is a real treasure.

The botanic garden continues to grow and prosper because new international plants are maintaining a rich vibrancy whereby the garden never remains static. Similarly, more ethnic and religious groups are moving to America and the population continues to grow based on the mosaic of this nation. Therefore, just like new plants in the botanic garden must acclimatize to the new environment in order to grow and prosper; it is equally essential that new migrants assimilate in America while preserving the best of the old world. This is where Alyse Radenovic connects because her art provides a sense of belonging.
