On the morning of Feb. 15, 2024, Prof. Park Deuk-Eun was teaching a group of his literary friends how to better write poems at a public building of the southern provincial County of Sunchang, Korea's North Jeolla Province.

The former literature professor of Chonam National University showed a great enthusiasm for promoting the grass roots movement in promoting literature among the amateurish literary men and women.

He earned his PhD from Jeonbuk National University. But it was Chonnam National University where he taught the student the Korean literature for over three decades before he retired from the university.

After the two-hour-long literature class Prof. Park led the group of some 20 members, all his students mostly in their 50s and 60s, to the nearby restaurant for lunch, which was hosted by one of his students.

After the meal they moved over to a coffee shop run by one of them to debate ardently and freely over their literary activities and discuss on their plans including their first-ever overseas literature seminar.

The literature class is only one of scores of literature clubs and groups Prof. Park teaches or leads in both provinces of Jeolla in the nation.

One member says that there are hundreds of perhaps thousands of literature clubs made up of amateur men and women nationwide as more and more people are getting interested in writing poems or novels.

Prof. Park a multi-faceted artist: former university professor, poet, essayist, novelist, oil painter, and promoter of arts and literature based in the beautiful provincial town of Sunchang and over the whole areas of both Jeolla Provinces including a major city of Gwangju, where he resides.

Afterwards, Prof. Park took some members to his gallery officially called Park Deok-Eun Art Museum or Art Gallery to show them his works of art.

Located at Gangcheon-ro, Gurim-myon, Suncheon County His gallery is housed in the majestic building standing in the middle of the vast "Sculpture Park' in 100,000 square pyeongs. One pyeong equals 3.3 square meters.

160-pyeong Park Deok-Eun Gallery building is decorated by his works of art amounting to 600 pieces curated by Madame Kim Gee-Woo, who owns the whole Sculpture Park surround by mountains.

Park Deok-Eun Art Gallery was opened on the Sculture Park in the county on Sept. 23, 2023 as a venue of art in the nation's far-flung southern province of Jeolla, which is called province of art and culture.

Kim said that a total of 1,200 sculptures are on display in buildings and on the open space in her Sculpture Park.

"I want to turn the whole Sculpture Park in the place of culture and relaxation for the people," Kim said. "Park Deok-Eun Gallery is the center of this artistic park"
