Malaysian Tourism Minister Due Here to Attend Malaysian Festival
 | | Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, Malaysian Tourism Minister. | The YBM Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, Malaysian Tourism Minister, will arrive here on April 17 for a four-day visit to attend opening ceremony of Malaysian Festival scheduled for April 18 at Doosan Tower Plaza in downtown Seoul. The festival will open to consumers April 21-22..While here, he will also meet travel trade business leaders here including members of the Friends of Malaysia Club in Korea chaired by Jon Kim, vice president of Korea Tourism Association. While here, he will also meet travel trade business leaders here including members of the Friends of Malaysia Club in Korea chaired by Jon Kim, vice president of Korea Tourism Association.He took over the tourism portfolio from YB Datuk Dr. Leo Michael Toyad following the reshuffle in the fresh Cabinet line-up announced by the Prime Minister, YAB Dato' Seri Abdullah Haji Ahmad Badawi earlier this year.Born in Melaka on December, 20, 1950, YBM Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in business administration. YBM Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan was the chairman of several corporations and organisations such as Magni-Tech Industries Bhd, Unza Holdings Bhd, Tanco Holdings Bhd, the Malaysia-Vietnam Friendship Association and Young Entrepreneurs' Association of Malaysia. He also held the post of deputy chairman and director of TT Resources Bhd and director of Isuta Holdings Bhd. Until recently, he was the executive chairman of Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB). In his political career, YBM Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan was the division chief of Seputeh UMNO Division in 1996 and the executive secretary of UMNO in 1999. In 2000, he became the chairman of the National Front (Barisan Nasional) Federal Territory Liaison Committee and the chairman of the UMNO Federal Territory Liaison Committee, a position that he held until today. He was appointed a Supreme Council Member of UMNO in 2004 and was formerly the Senator of Dewan Negara from 2000 to 2003. First appointed to the Malaysian Cabinet as a Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in 2001, he was subsequently made a full Minister in the Prime Minister's Department a year after. YBM Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan is married to YBhg Datin Seri Anggraini Sentiyaki.The Ministry of Tourism welcomes YBM Datuk Tengku Adnan's appointment and is confident that he would take the Ministry to greater heights and contribute significantly to the development of the country's tourism industry.
