Gaza City, Jan. 28, 2004 — Palestinian medical sources declared that eight Palestinian citizens (so far) have been killed and several others have been wounded early this morning as the Israeli forces advanced through the area south of Gaza City.

Security sources confirmed that several Israeli tanks and Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) advanced from the "Netzarim" Israeli settlement, middle of Gaza Strip, and started razing dozens of acres of arable lands, near the Gaza Car Market. The tanks fired heavily at the Palestinian properties in the area, which include houses, workshops and factories, leading to the killing of eight Palestinians.

According to hospital officials in Gaza City, some of the casualties among the Palestinians cannot be transferred to the hospital, due to the heavy and random gunfire in the area. The death toll is probably to change in the meantime, as the Israeli military campaign in the area continues until this moment.

Israeli military sources had no comment at the moment on their ongoing operation in Gaza City.
