Tunisian Embassy Hosts Event to Mark Its Winning of "2015 Nobel Peace Prize" in Seoul

The Tunisian Embassy in Seoul organized a reception to commemorate the Nobel Peace Prize for 2015 awarded to the Tunisian national dialogue quartet at Korea Press Foundation building in downtown Seoul on Dec. 15, 2015.

The quartet was formed in the summer of 2013. On Oct. 9, 2015, the quartet was awarded the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize.

The National Dialogue Quartet comprises the following organizations in Tunisian civil society.

— The Tunisian General Labour Union
— The Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts
— The Tunisian Human Rights League
— The Tunisian Order of Lawyers

The jury of Nobel Prize Committee cited the group for "its decisive contribution to the building of a pluralistic democracy in Tunisia in the wake of the Jasmine Revolution of 2011."

"The Nobel Peace Prize for 2015 is awarded to this Quartet, not to the four individual organizations as such," the committee said.

The laureates received their prizes at a ceremony in Oslo on Dec. 10, 2015.

On this occasion, the Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nafti delivered a speech to highlight the meanings of this international recognition and the responsibility that lies on the shoulders of all parties to preserve the ongoing democratic process.

He also noted the role played by the national dialogue quartet in achieving the political transition in particular organizing legislative and presidential elections and accelerate the achievement of the Constitution of 26 January 2014.

Mr. Chung Woo Taik, the chairman of the national policy committee at the National Assembly and president of the Korean-Tunisian parliamentary friendship group, Mr. Hee Seog KWON, Director General, Africa and the Middle East, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended the celebration and delivered congratulatory remarks.

They highlighted the success of the tunisian democratic transition indicating that the Nobel peace award is a testament to the world and support for Tunisia global aspiration in promoting peace in the middle east Mr Chung said.

Mr. Chung said " as the president of the Korea-Tunisia Parliamentary Friendship Group, i am particularly glad to note that Tunisia has successfully laid for a dynamic democracy by establishing a parliament and a new government through democratic and peaceful general and presidential elections in accordance with the new constitution of the country."

He added "one of the Tunisia" forefathers, the renowned general Hannibal said that "I shall find a way, or make one" and I believe that Tunisia is charting its course for the future at the moment.

The ceremony also included the screening of two videos. The first one showed the historical moments, the announcement of the winning of Nobel Peace prize by the national dialogue, the awarding ceremony, and footage from Nobel peace prize music ceremony. The second video included a presentation of the Tunisian tourist sites a documentary shooted by educational broadcasting TV channel "EBS." And music show.

Representatives of the media and journalists cultural, business and members of the civil society in addition to representatives of diplomatic missions and members of the Tunisian community in Korea attended the ceremony.
