Mission Hills, China’s premier golf and leisure brand, has launched a concerted campaign to develop closer ties with South Korea by hosting a landmark seminar in Seoul.

The company’s initiative comes with tourism between the two countries at record levels and goodwill being generated across the whole spectrum of society from politics to K-Pop.

The Mission Hills Korea Seminar was designed to increase awareness of the Mission Hills brand among the public and media.

“In China, we are embracing Korean culture,” Mission Hills Group Vice Chairman Mr. Tenniel Chu told the gathering at the Lotte Hotel World.

“K-Pop and K-Dramas are hugely popular, Korean fashion brands and cars are decorating our streets, and Korean restaurants can be found everywhere, including Mission Hills. And now, more and more, Korean golfers are enjoying our fairways and greens.

“Mission Hills, I am delighted to say, is taking an active role. Beginning just last Saturday, there is now a direct flight, twice a week, from Seoul to Mission Hills Haikou on the tropical island of Hainan. And we are looking forward to Asiana Airlines starting regular direct flights to Haikou from this coming October.

“Further, KBS has chosen Mission Hills Haikou and its newly opened Movie Town tourist attraction as the next shooting destination for the Let's Go, Dream Team series. Filming will take place from 4th August onwards and a total of 14 Korean celebrities will be coming to Mission Hills Haikou.”

Seminar attendees were introduced to Mission Hills’ two giant, integrated golf and leisure resorts, in Shenzhen-Dongguan and Haikou, and watched presentations on the ambitious commercial and retail projects being constructed at both destinations.

They were also given updates on the Mission Hills World Celebrity Pro-Am, the spectacular tournament bringing together golf and show business that will be held at Mission Hills Haikou on 24-26 October.

The seminar culminated in Mission Hills signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Korean talent and entertainment agency Hoyaspotainment, who will supply several Korean superstars for the World Celebrity Pro-Am.

Mr. Chu and the CEO of Hoya, Mr. Jang-Ho Yoo, signed the MOU and exchanged gifts to warm applause from the audience.

“This relationship goes way beyond the MOU, it is about friendship,” added Mr. Chu. “There is so much synergy between our countries and we can build relationships in golf, leisure, lifestyle, tourism, entertainment and business.

“We recognize the vast importance of the Korean market, so we are honoured to be in Seoul, making new friends and building bridges.”
